Gamma Meccanica SpA
XPS Insulating Boards

Expanding Product Line

Plants for the production of extruded polystyrene.

Innovative is an equipment solutions provider for plastics recycling. We offer solutions for both post-industrial and post-consumer plastic waste streams. We are partners with Gamma Meccanica for providing flexible and innovative extrusion solutions. We provide solutions for pre-sizing, washing systems and drying solutions for plastics from other manufacturers.

The expanding polystyrene slabs or XPS are hard and light. The XPS is a perfect thermal insulating product and it is mainly used in the field of residential and industrial building.

Slabs
Slabs
Line for the production of extruded: Orange Logik line.

The complete line for the production of extruded polystyrene is divided into different working station. The capacity of the line varies from 30.000 to 300.000 m3/year.

The production cycle goes through the following steps:

  • Raw material dosing and feeding
  • raw material melting
  • expanding gas injection
  • foam cooling
  • slabs forming
  • slabs cooling
  • lengthwise cutting
  • side trimming
  • packaging
  • packaging with polyethylene film
Edge trimming regeneration
The edge trim and the scraps are regenerated and used into a new production cycle.

Rock Wool Systems

The typical composition of a complete rock wool production line:

  • raw materials storage/mixing/feeding system;
  • fibre melting and forming section - tank or cupola melter - fibre centrifuges with from 1 to 4 disks;
  • felt forming chamber with or without pendulum;
  • fibre reception, polymerisation, trimming, facing, longitudinal and transversal cutting section;
  • rolled-up and finished roll packaging section;
  • panel stacking and packaging section;
  • melter, forming chamber and polymerisation oven smokes treatment/filtering system;
  • chemical binding agents storage and feeding system;
  • production line dust recovery system;
  • complete system for the recovery and briquetting of various scrap (with cupola melter only).

Black Logic Line systems.

A complete rock wool production line consists in a machine assembly that processes the material from melting to packaging. The “hot” part is located at the begin of the line where the machines melts the basalt rock and transform it into fibre. The polymerisation and material processing stages follow, where the product takes on its final shape (panels, mattresses or felt). The packaging system is located at the end of the line and consists in the machines that package the product and prepare it for warehousing or shipment. For “special” products such as pipe section or lamellar products, Gamma Meccanica supply special systems or “additional lines".

The indicative production capacity of a rock wool line can vary from 200 - 1500 kg/h with tank melters, and from 1000 - 5500 kg/h with cupola melters.
Product specifications can vary according to the customer’s requirements. The useful working length of a production line can vary from 1200 - 1800 - 2000 - 2400 mm.

Glass Wool Systems

Yellow Logic Line systems.

The Yellow Logic Line transforms material derived from a mixture of siliceous sand into glass wool. Glass wool lines differ from rock wool production systems thanks to a number of specific technological features.
A complete line for the production of glass or rock wool can count over thirty different units, each with specific functions.

The useful working width of a production line can be 1200-1800-2000-2400 mm.

The typical composition of a complete glass wool production line:

  • raw materials storage/mixing/feeding system;
  • fibre melting and forming section - with a capacity from 500 to 3000 kg/h - fibre centrifuges with fibre control system - felt forming chamber with fixed or mobile walls;
  • fibre reception, orientation, polymerisation, trimming, facing, longitudinal and transversal cutting section;
  • rolled-up and finished roll packaging section;
  • panel stacking and packaging section;
  • melter, forming chamber and polymerisation oven smokes treatment/filtering system;
  • chemical binding agents storage and feeding system;
  • production line dust recovery system.
